Brian Paumier was born and raised in Oxnard, California where he realized his desire to become a photographer. Building his artistic foundations at the Art Center College of Design he found his visual voice and graduated in 1998. While in the midst of an upward trajectory of his art practice, photography and military career, he was deployed to Iraq for two years. Upon his return, he continued his education and received his Masters Of Fine Arts at ICP-Bard College in New York. Brian is best known for his poised and meticulous portraiture along with his travel imagery. His work embodies an old-world formality with modern wit to make for the perfect integration of theatrics and contemporary style. His images have appeared in numerous publications and periodicals including The New Yorker, New York Times Magazine, Travel & Leisure, Condé Nast Traveller, GQ, AFAR and Marie Claire.

Brian Paumier’s lens-based art practice has been collected and exhibited in numerous galleries, art fairs, public and private collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The International Center Of Photography, the 21c Museum Hotel, and Beth Rudin DeWoody collection. He recently was commissioned by Art In Embassies to create an installation for the US Consulate Nuevo Laredo in Mexico. Paumier’s newest venture at The CAM Studio Gallery and as a Board Member with the Carnegie Art Museum Cornerstones fosters the development of emerging lens-based artists at critical moments of their careers. With Paumier’s programming, mentorship, exhibitions and access to workspace, this venture serves as a catalyst for innovative creation within the local artistic community.
